Serious Infection and Critical Care in Children

Designed for any healthcare professionals that treat children at the front-line, this course provides a practical and evidence based approach to diagnosis and management of a wide range of infections. It aims to provide a thorough understanding of the regular pitfalls in the diagnosis of infection and will highlight the life threatening consequences of such errors.

The course runs for two days but Day 1 can be taken as a stand-alone course. Some of the teaching will be done in small group workshops using real cases to illustrate the differential diagnosis, investigation and optimal management of a variety of common paediatric presentations. There will also be lectures in practical microbiology, antibiotic prescribing and emergency care.

Who should attend?

Anyone that sees children at the front-line, including GPs, triage nurses, A+E doctors, paediatric nurses and paediatric trainees.

Venue: Imperial College London, Hammersmith & St Mary’s campus

Fees: £395 for both days

£175 for Day 1 only

Imperial College & University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust staff:

£250 for both days or £125 for Day 1 only

The RCPCH has approved this course for up to 13 CPD credits.
